An Old Fashion Christmas
Family is the greatest gift we can have! To have a safe place to be fully known and fully loved was the plan of a loving God. This painting shows a family spending time together hunting the perfect Christmas tree. They are unhurried, taking time to let the children build a snowman, to run and play in the snow with their dog.
I love the smell of fresh cut pine and enjoyed tromping around in the woods in search of a beautiful tree. When we brought it home, it never looked quite as nice. It always had big bald spots! My handy husband would trim off branches from the bottom and tie them in here and there to make it look better. Family is like that. It does not have to be perfect to bring joy.
This world gets so busy! We must stop occasionally and give our full attention to our children. Show them that they are valued and find something good to say about them. Teach them to do what is good as the Word says, “And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7
