Bear Lake
The Story Behind The Painting

Bear Lake

A moose wanders down for a drink in the cool waters of this pristine lake. This watercolor painting was inspired by trips to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. This is Bear Lake with snow covered Long’s Peak in the background. We love to hike around Bear Lake and Sprauge Lake and have often seen moose in the area. Every fall we used to hike from here to Bierstadt lake and zig-zag down through a whole hillside covered with golden aspen trees!

Look at these magnificent mountains. They are so great! There is such great comfort in them. For the One who made the mountains is greater than them, and He is our help.

Lift up my eyes to the mountains—
 where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
 the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—
 he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
 will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—
 the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
 nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—
 he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
 both now and forevermore.

Psalm 121
